Wisdom Tech Achieves Global Breakthrough in Radiotherapy Detector Technology

Wisdom Technologies has been granted a new invention patent titled “A Flexible X-ray Radiation Dose Measurement Device for Radiotherapy,” marking a significant advancement in the field of radiation oncology. The patent, jointly filed by members of Wisdom Tech’s R&D team, represents a novel solution to a long-standing challenge in radiation dose monitoring.

In radiotherapy, it is essential to maximize tumor cell destruction while minimizing damage to healthy tissue. This makes accurate, real-time radiation dose monitoring critical during treatment. While various dose measurement tools exist, traditional in vivo devices—such as ionization chambers, semiconductor detectors, and thermoluminescent dosimeters—are typically limited to point-dose measurements. Films offer two-dimensional dose distribution but lack real-time capabilities and are cumbersome to handle. Matrix detectors provide spatial information but are often rigid and bulky, making them impractical for direct use on the patient’s body surface.

Wisdom Tech’s newly patented technology overcomes these limitations by introducing a flexible, next-generation radiation dose measurement device that features:

1. Flexible Structural Design
The detector’s deformable structure allows it to conform naturally to the contours of the patient’s body, improving both accuracy and patient comfort.

2. Flexible Electronic Circuitry
Embedded flexible circuits enable real-time signal acquisition, allowing clinicians to monitor radiation dose continuously throughout treatment.

3. Advanced Detection Materials
The system incorporates new, high-sensitivity radiation detection materials with superior X-ray absorption, delivering enhanced resolution and precise dose data.
